Carson McCafferty
Senior Ambulatory Consultant
Carson is a Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience in Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery. She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing from Duke University and went on to obtain her Masters in Leadership and Management of Nursing Practice. Since then, she has obtained several certifications in the outpatient surgery practice setting. In 2020, she participated in the development of the Certified Ambulatory Surgery Nurse (CNAMB) certification.
Currently she serves as Clinical Director and is an active Board Member of an Ophthalmology Ambulatory Surgery Center in Texas. She was responsible for opening the center and obtaining accreditation and Medicare Certification for the facility. In 2020 her facility won a “Financial Management” award and in 2022 it won a “Patient Safety” award from AORN’s Outpatient Surgery Magazine. She is often used as a subject matter expert and contributes content to many of the articles in the publication.
In addition to her Administrator role, Carson is an active surveyor for QuadA (AAASF). As a surveyor she has a deep understanding of regulations among a variety of surgical programs. Her range of experience and competency includes all aspects of outpatient ambulatory care and facility management. She has worked with facilities during the start-up process, existing facilities preparing for accreditation, and post-survey corrections.
Understanding the demands that ASC administrators face daily, Carson has participated in ASCA’s mentorship program from its conception. She currently mentors ASC administrators across the country in all aspects of ASC operations and regulatory requirements.
